Those seven days every month feel like hell on earth for every woman I bet.

I won't say its all flowers and chocolates for me but things have definitely changed.

I will be sharing with you all those things I do to keep my soul and body as comfy as possible during my periods.

1. MEDICAL CHECK UP

If your pain is excruciating its high time you go to your doctor and ask them to run certain tests on you. Until I didn't find out that I had polycystic ovarian syndrome things were quite severe. Since the disclosure and treatment my ovaries behave themselves during those days.

2. HOT SHOWER

Take hot showers as soon as you get the blood flowing out of your system. The myth I grew up to "nahao mat". Half of the girls in school wouldn't shower for first three days because supposedly somehow taking shower froze your ovaries. Funny! IKR? hot shower helps me a lot. Takes away those cramps and puts my body at ease. TRY!!!

3. WORKOUT!

I might act like a lazy person through out the month but as soon as I feel this frienemy in my body is coming I run on a treadmill and do some squats and jumping jacks. Workout really helps my body in combating the pain, laziness and mood swings.

4. QUIT DAIRY

I know I know you want to punch me. I also loved my warm cream milky coffee during these days.

But honestly dairy just makes the cramps worse and most doctors recommend avoiding dairy during this time. Switch your milk tea or coffee with green tea or warm water. Dairy makes the body bloat unnecessarily.

5. STAY HYDRATED

You should be drinking a lot of water anyways but during these days go crazy with your water in take. It will keep you hydrated and that will give your body energy and more energy means better mood for me. It will also help your stomach be less balloon like.

6. EAT AN APPLE

You know those insane sugar cravings you get? That is not your body demanding for chocolates. Although a piece of small chocolate won't harm you. That is actually your body having a zinc withdrawal. The best way to over come this feeling is to eat an apple. Its a very rich source of zinc and healthy at the same time. TBH my sugar cravings during periods have lessened so much after I started taking my zinc supplements.

7. STAY CLEAN

Change your panties twice and wear breathable panties in those days, change your sanitary products every 4 hours, wash yourself down there with water and use a PH balancing wash while showering. If you take care of your lady bits during these days they they will thank you and will in return be nice to you by not smelling like fish or by not giving you those unwanted UTIs.

8. CHANGE

Change your sanitary products every 4 hours. This does not apply to ones using menstrual cups because supposedly they are the most hygienic form of sanitary products currently and can be used up to a span of 12 hours. With a tampoon I try not to exceed 4-6 hours and with a pad you surely shouldn't exceed 4 hours.

9. GET RID OF CRAMPS

Painkillers do not affect your reproductive system they affect your kidneys. According to doctors one pain killer a month wont harm you. So I dont take pain killers all month for head aches or back pains. I keep my quota of pain killers for the worse days.

Also hot water bottle really really helps me. So maybe try!
